Teaching with Zines: a workshop facilitated by Greg Hatcher and Cathy Camper
Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW
Zines are a fantastic resource for educators and youth advocates, lending themselves equally effectively to being a creative art/writing and “stealth literacy” tool in the classroom and an outlet for youth expression in a non-academic setting. Greg Hatcher and Cathy Camper will talk about the history of zines and how they can be used to address diversity, self worth and self esteem among youth. They will share how they got started teaching with zines, success stories and strategies, overcoming obstacles, and recruiting allies to get something started in your own school or organization.
2pm – 3:30pm
