2019 Featured Artist: Miss Jaws
Jessica Garcia, known professionally as Miss Jaws, is a south Florida illustrator, animator and graphic designer. Since graduating from Sarasota’s Ringling College of Art and Design in 2016, she has emerged in the Florida scene as a notable artist who has earned a reputation for vending her prints, stickers, zines and apparel at festivals like the Miami Zine Fair, West Kendall Zine Fest, and Fort Lauderdale’s Small Press Fair.
She strives to create solidarity with others by channeling her own personal experiences through her work and is deeply influenced by latinx culture and womxn. Her work has been featured by Vox Media’s Eater Magazine, Tampa’s Mieux Magazine, (F)empower of Miami, and the Mujeristas Collective of New York. Her fine art was also featured in 2018’s Beauty (Con)scious group show by Girl’s Club in Fort Lauderdale.
